A lot happens to your body and inside you during pregnancy! That's why we've compiled 5 fun facts that many people don't know.
1.
Due date
Only 5% of all babies are born on their due date. So, there's a good chance you'll have to wait a little while longer for your due date. This is because most children are born after their due date.
A pregnancy lasts an average of 37 to 42 weeks. Ten percent of women give birth after 42 weeks, and only 5 percent give birth before 37 weeks. American research shows that most women give birth in the 40th week.

Samples
Babies already taste things in their mother's womb. They sip your amniotic fluid. And that amniotic fluid tastes like what you eat. If you eat a wide variety of foods during your pregnancy, your baby is more likely to enjoy more later in life. And if you often eat your favorite foods, chances are your little one will love them too. So I guess I'll be careful with the garlic sauce ;)

Uterus
Normally, your uterus is the size of a pear. So it still needs to grow considerably along with the baby inside. Fortunately, this isn't a problem. Your uterus can expand by 500 meters. After delivery, it returns to the size of a pear.

255 babies per minute
Worldwide, 255 babies are born every minute. This means 15,300 babies per hour and 367,200 per day. In the Netherlands, 496 babies are born every day. So, many women experience the same thing on their big day. And another fun fact: in the Netherlands, most babies are born on a Tuesday.

To cry
You may have already noticed... Your breasts don't just produce milk when you're nursing. They also sometimes "turn on" when your baby cries.
